Breast Health: Here's how you can have a non invasive check up on your breast health by a female practitioner in a Naturopathic Clinic - For peace of mind and the benefits of early detection!!!

Digital Thermal Imaging (DITI's) role in breast cancer and other breast disorders is DITI Testingto help in early detection and monitoring of abnormal physiology and the establishment of risk factors for the development or existence of cancer. When used with other procedures the best possible evaluation of breast health is made.

This 15 minute non invasive test is a valuable procedure for alerting your GP or specialist to the possibility of underlying breast disease.  The DITI test is designed to improve chances for detecting fast-growing, active tumours in the intervals between mammographic screenings or when mammography is not indicated by screening guidelines for women under 50 years of age.

The Medical Community does not yet know how to prevent breast cancer. However, you can increase your chances of detecting breast cancer in its earliest stages by understanding the need for, and participating in an early detection program.  Only about 20 percent of biopsied breast lumps are cancerous. And, if cancer is found early, there are choices for treatment.

With prompt treatment, the outlook is good. In fact, most women treated for early breast cancer will be free from breast cancer for the rest of their lives.

Who should have a DITI  Breast Screening?

DITI  is for any woman who would rather not under go the discomfort or radiation of a Mammogram if not necessary. DITI is especially appropriate for younger women between 20 & 50  whose denser breast tissue makes it more difficult for mammography to pick up suspicious lesions. The DITI session can provide a 'clinical marker' to the doctor or mammographer  that a specific area of the breast needs particularly close examination

Mammography

There also are iatrogenic (doctor caused) breast cancers. In 1971, the National Academy of Science published a report revealing that for every rad of x-ray exposure, the risk of breast cancer increased by one percent. Nine months later the ACS and NCI promoted a mammography project in which 300,000 women were enrolled and were told that the dose of radiation would be perfectly safe, and that the procedure might pick up breast cancer and save their lives. The minimum dose women received in this procedure was two rads per mammogram. Some centers administered five rads and some ten rads. Think of that -- an increase in cancer risk of two percent, five percent, or ten percent by a single test for cancer -- without being informed of the risks!
